Interactive video installation with a stretch-fabric projection screen
Press fit
The title Press Fit refers to an industrial manufacturing process in which two components are pressed into one another to form a tight fit. The work uses semi-transparent stretch fabric as a projection surface. Through montage, I combine bodily actions associated with wearing contact lenses—approaching, opening, pressing, inserting, and adapting—with the associations these actions evoke. A series of meditative instructions guides viewers to pull apart the projection membrane and pass through it, transforming the experience of a lens coming into intimate proximity with the eyeball into a physical action within the exhibition space.
